COMET

Something was different about that star. Not only was it brighter and was standing out in that starry night, it seemed to move. Not fast. Not like one of the shooting stars that crash to earth every now and then. It moved slow enough to be able to follow it.

Joshua said it was a comet but I had no idea where he heard that word or what it meant. Fact was that even the sheep started to recognize it now and tried to move into its direction.

Joshua and I had a hard time keeping them together. When we hit the limits of the village of Bethlehem, the town was pretty much deserted. the shadows of the taller buildings in the night just added a shade of darkness to the already dark dirt roads.

Although it was not a full moon night the comet was bright enough to produce these long shadows. We were not able to see where we were going and I only saw Joshua's silhouette who was busy to keep our little herd together while

we followed the star. There were other silhouettes appearing in the dark and other sheep joined our herd.

'Any idea what's going on Joshua?'

'No but keep walking, this is a very special night.'

It sure was a very special night, I can hardly remember walking with our sheep thru Bethlehem or any other town, ever - following a comet or not. The star stopped moving and it looked like it was sitting right above one of the smaller stables, brightening up the scene ahead of us.

Not really what I hoped to see, just a woman and a man standing next to one of the food cribs in that stable.

'Can you see anything?'

'Not yet, keep walking.'

'Are these angels?'

Joshua stopped and for a second I thought he would turn into one of pillars of salt. This has happened before. Not with Joshua though.

'Sarah these are angels, do you see their wings and the halos?'

'What are they doing here?'

'I have no idea but look, there's a baby in the crib? It must be a very special baby if angels are around protecting it.'

'Look Joshua, it has a halo too...'
